Before we begin
Your submission is due on Saturday, the 27th at 11:59PM. We understand that this is not a lot of time. Just do your best!
Here are a few recording tips:
Record with the back-facing camera on your phone (not the selfie one).
Do not use headphones, the microphone in your phone is better!
Enjoy it! We are all here because we love to sing :)
Step 1: Two songs
Record two more solo songs, each around one minute in duration (not a hard limit, about a verse and chorus). These songs cannot be musical theater. It’s okay if your first submission was, but now we need to get a sense of your voice in a non musical theatre setting. Ideally, these songs should be of varying style- the goal should be to show off your voice and range in different ways as best you can (i.e. change in dynamics, tempo, timbre, etc. from song to song).
Step 2: Singalong
Record your voice part to a 4-part barbershop tag. You can find the part (or parts) we would like you to sing in this google sheet. In this folder, there are three subfolders- one which has solo tracks (where you hear only your part, and nothing else), one which has learning tacks (where your part is panned to only your left ear, and the other parts are panned the right), and one which has recording tracks (where your part is muted, so that you can sing along to the other three parts). Please record your part (or parts if you have been asked to learn two) with the recording track playing in the background.
Step 3: Pft ts Kah ts?
Record a snippet of your Vocal Percussion skills, if applicable. This can be pretty much as long as you want, but keep it reasonable. You may vp to music, to a metronome, or to nothing at all (or any combination).
Step 4: Talent show
This is optional! Record any miscellaneous vocal skills you might have. No requirements for this one, but if you have something weird/cool/useful you can do, this is the place to show it off!
Step 5: You’re Done!
Submit everything to this form and well see you at your time slot on the 28th. Best of luck!
