The Like Mike Award Fund

The Like Mike Award was created in loving memory of Michael Hammaker (class of 2021) who passed away days before his graduation. In his four years as a member of the Virginia Gentlemen, he left an indelible mark on the Grounds of the University and specifically the a cappella community. The award recognizes a current member of VGs that exemplifies Mike's three outstanding qualities - showing unconditional love to others, demonstrating a passion & vigor for life, and never forgetting to have fun. At every reunion concert, a current member of the group will be selected through a blind voting process to receive this award.

Why is it important for the fund to become permanently endowed?

• If the fund does not reach the minimum funding goal ($10,000) all dollars contributed to this point will be used at the University's discretion instead of the original purpose of the award.

What is the deadline for becoming permanently endowed?

• The fund has until May 2028 to become permanently endowed. 

Why give monthly?

• Small dollars add up when there is critical mass behind the effort. 

Can my company give to the Like Mike Award Fund?
